Celebrating A Tremendous Year
This time last year we were unsure of what this year would bring, with big changes within the company. With the dissolution of our fledgling US partnership, new staff joining the team and several “very empty” 2017 trips, we knew it would bring big challenges. However, in spite of this uncertainty, when we look back, it has been an incredible year full of amazing experiences.
Our Wild Earth team have had some personal highlights that have made this year particularly special. Natalia returned to work in the field and fulfilled her dream of diving to 1000ft in a deep-sea submersible off Cocos Island, Thomas ventured to life-long bucket-list destinations like Cuba and Cocos with rewarding wildlife encounters. The Baechtold family made the big move up north to the Coffs Harbour coast, where they purchased their first home. Lisa explored the perks of her job while travelling to multiple new destinations, meeting many Wild Earth Explorers and learning how the company operates.
Travel this year has rewarded us with some experiences that have touched us profoundly, like the thrill of swimming with a fast-approaching ginormous Blue whale, three lucky Wild Earth Explorers being stalked by a curious Puma, willingly swimming face to face with a salt water crocodile, watching the flimsy fins of a new born Humpback whale gain experience in the water beside its mother. Our expeditions have showcased the natural world and offered opportunities to dive amongst the world’s healthiest and abundant coral reefs, to stand only a few feet away from an active Komodo dragon, swim alongside Whale sharks, trek through diverse eco systems, sight the “Awesome Foursome” big cats of India - Snow Leopards, Tigers, Asian Lions, Leopards and excitedly observe the power and grace of a variety of shark species like Great whites, Silky, Hammerhead and Bull sharks.
After moving our company to Australia, one of our greatest achievements this year has been launching our sleek and streamlined website, a perfect base for our Wild Earth Explorers to find the latest Wild Earth Expeditions news. Another exciting achievement is our new stylish and adventurous logo, designed by one of our avid Wild Earth Explorers Ryan Kays.
We are excited about 2018, as we continue to go from strength to strength. To be able to use our love and knowledge of the natural world above and below the water and to create incredible once-in-a lifetime adventures is one thing, but to be able to share these experiences with so many amazing people, makes them truly special. We feel privileged and honoured to lead our adventurous Wild Earth Explorers to some of the most unique and beautiful destinations in the world. This year was no exception as we have shared so many life-changing experiences and incredible memories.
We look forward to many more exciting adventures with you in 2018 and thank you for your continued support and loyalty. We wish you a great New Year’s and good health, success and happiness for 2018.
