Privacy policy

Wild Earth Expeditions trading as Wild Earth Expeditions Pty Limited is a limited liability Corporation based in Australia. Known here after as ‘we’, ‘our’ ‘the company’.

Your information

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, ‘personal information’ means a combination of your information that identifies a specific person or that is about an individual who can be identified.

Collection of information (Information that you provide directly to Wild Earth Expeditions)

You may need to provide us or our service providers with information about yourself.

For example:-

·       If you register for our newsletter or interest in one of our expeditions you will be asked for your name, email address and location. Your information is collected when you request information from us, contact us, make a booking and use our sites or social media or via our business partners for the purpose of the above.

·       If you reserve or book an expedition with us, you will be asked for detailed information including but not limited to:- your passport details, name, address, telephone number, medical information and dietary requirements.  We will ask you to confirm and update/check your information when new services are requested if we already hold this information. You can ask for access to your information at any time and for it to be deleted from our database/mailing lists. Please note that we are unable to provide services on an active expedition without requested information.

How we use your information

For the purpose of booking all necessary components for our expeditions (flights, accommodations, activities, diving, insurances, immigration, license and permissions where applicable) it may be necessary for us to share your information with third party suppliers. The information required, and the distribution of information will depend on the country/area/regulations and activities included. Whilst the information may not always be mandatory we will exercise discretion as to when to share this to ensure the smooth running of our services and to avoid any inconvenience or additional disturbances to you when you travel.

Without this information we will not be able to provide the services requested from us.

All other uses of your personal data will be regulated within the company under all sectors needed for the functionality and improvement of our services, with general perimeters including but not limited to:- administration, customer services, marketing, customer profiling, business management, social media, quality control, and will be used by the company or any service provider working directly for the company in these areas.

Your rights

If you wish to access, review, correct, update, delete or limit the use of your personal information that you have provided direct to us then please contact us and we will comply with your request as soon as is practical to do so. Please be aware that in some cases restricting the use of your personal data will also mean that we cannot proceed with a specific booking or service requested.

*If you no longer want to receive marketing-related emails from us on a going-forward basis, you may opt-out of receiving these emails by clicking ‘unsubscribe’ at the bottom of any marketing email you may receive.

International Data Protection Guidelines

As a company registered in Australia we work by the data protection guidelines and legislation dictated under Australian law. Other countries data protection laws may not be regulated in the same way. Please be aware that the countries and destinations that we deal primarily with all have different jurisdictions and requirements that may not be compliant with Australia, US or any other European country that you are based in and therefore by providing us with your information you are consenting to the transfer of information about you and the use of the information we hold as detailed in Information that you provide section.

Insurance

An active travel insurance policy is required. It is a pre-requisite that you make arrangements for comprehensive travel insurance that covers you for medical, air-evacuation and accident (including SCUBA diving & snorkeling). Please be reminded that if it is a watersports orientated trip and scuba diving is involved, it is MANDATORY to carry insurance which covers scuba diving (if you are a diver) and snorkeling, including the costs for re-compression chamber & air evacuation. While most travel insurance policies will cover scuba diving, they often fall short when it comes to air-evacuation and paying for re-compression treatment. We highly recommend DAN Insurance membership (Divers Alert Network).

We strongly suggest that you purchase comprehensive insurance that also includes trip cancellation and interruption, luggage and personal effects protection. This insurance will protect you from financial disappointment in the event unforeseen circumstances prevent you from participating in the trip, or for other reasons. Although every possible care is taken to safeguard you and your property, Wild Earth Expeditions accepts no liability for any accidents, injuries, illnesses or death incurred, or for any loss of, or damage to your property, or for any unforeseen changes or interruptions to the expedition. No credit on any unused portions will be given and the cancelation policy will apply. Check out your travel insurance options with your travel agent or contact us for recommendations.

Security

We take numerous precautions administratively and technically to ensure the safeguard of your information and details to prevent from lost, theft, fraud, unauthorised use, criminal use, disclosure or modification. However, no one can guarantee the complete safety of your information.  You transmit your information at your own risk.

Changes to our privacy policy

Any changes that occur to this policy will be posted on our website and/or our social media forums and will be made available upon request. In the event that major changes occur with how we will use your information we will provide you with at least 30 days notice and ask that you confirm that you accept the changes before proceeding.
