Gunilla Lindh

Polar Expert & Expedition Leader

Nilla started her career as a guide as her love for the white, remote and pristine places of the polar regions became too strong to materialise into anything but a lifelong passionate career as a polar guide. When not guiding expeditions, she is fond of skiing and photographing wildlife.

Nilla has been working as a full-time expedition guide since 2013 in the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Initially trained professionally as a glacier and alpine guide in Iceland, and being a certified senior member of the Polar Tourism Guides Association, she has guided numerous skiing, glacier and hiking trips in Greenland, Svalbard, Iceland, Northern Norway and Sweden as well as working as a geology guide. She has lived and worked for longer periods with the local Inuit hunters of Eastern Greenland along with her other bases in Iceland and Norway. In 2017 she also started working on expedition ships in the polar regions as a guide, lecturer and wildlife photographer.

Nilla has a university degree in business management from Scotland and has studied Physical Geography at Stockholm University in addition to her guide related qualifications and certifications. In-between her expeditions in the field she is these days based in the Polarquest office where she works with operations and expedition logistics.

When not working, you will find her in nature photographing wildlife, exploring wild places of natural beauty and geographical interest by foot, ski or sea-kayak or pursuing her other big passion, knitting Icelandic jumpers.
